Four lecturers of the Igbinedion University
were confirmed dead in Wedneday Ovia
River auto crash near Ekiadolor in Edo.
It was learnt that the lecturers, all from the
Department of Business Administration,
were on their way to Benin when the
accident occurred.
An eyewitness said that a trailer coming
from Benin, in an attempt to avoid a failed
portion on the road, drove on the lane of
the on-coming Audi car with the lecturers,
forcing it to crash into the river.
The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr
Emeka Okika confirmed the death of the
lecturers, but said that he was yet to be fully
briefed on the circumstances of their death.
Meanwhile, the Edo Sector Commander of
the FRSC, Mr Ken Nwagbe, who also
confirmed the crash , said that although the
accident happened on Wednesday, they
were yet to make any rescue.
“And right now (Thursday) as we speak, my
men, the police and members of other sister
agencies are at the scene trying to rescue
the bodies and remove the car from the
river,’’ he said.
